Free your space

 |  Kevin Snell

Describing coaching to someone who has not experienced it, is hard. Pre-conceptions based on sports coaching, mentoring or other “directive” assistance do not help.

Just saying that coaching will “help you help yourself” sounds too vague, so most coaches strive for a good metaphor.

Build your space

For me, I like to consider that your thoughts, ideas, concerns or worries that lead you to feel you need some help, are like Lego bricks. By teasing them out in a conversation, we can then construct the goal or objective you want to achieve. Building this in the space between us, we can then view the object, walk around it and figure out how best to approach it.

Free your space

Coaching allows you to get things out of your head and hold them in a space where we can work on them together. With some actions or plan to follow, they can then be saved for the future to see where progress is made. You control what you want to share, the coach helps you to assess what you give and help you to find solutions.
